Alloush: If March 8 Candidate Wins, He’ll Find Himself in a Confrontation with the International Community

Mustaqbal politburo member former MP Mustapha Alloush noted on Monday that a prime minister who enjoys Hizbullah and the March 8 forces’ support and who does not enjoy the March 14 forces’ approval is effectively part of a government headed by Hizbullah Secretary General Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah.

He added to Akhbar al-Yawm news agency: “The international and local communities will consider such a government a Hizbullah Cabinet and not one headed by minister Mohammad Safafi or former PM Najib Miqati or any other figure backed by the party.”

“The March 14 forces will not push for the postponement of consultations, but we, as opposed to others, will completely accept the constitutional process,” he said.

“President Michel Suleiman also holds a responsibility in this matter,” he continued.

Alloush stressed: “The March 14 forces do not intend to topple a government except through democratic means, if Miqati wants to form a government headed by Nasrallah, then that’s up to him, but he will definitely not enjoy our support.”

“If he insisted on forming a national unity government, we are not prepared to enter a partnership with those who have broken their pledges,” he added.
