Prime Minister Najib Miqati is expected to meet with the Syndical Coordination Committee on Sunday in order to reach a solution to the wage hike crisis and persuade it to cancel its strike, reported the daily An Nahar on Sunday.

Circles close to the committee told the daily that it does not have any details about the meeting, stressing that the strike will take place as scheduled on Thursday.

The Syndical Coordination Committee called for a strike on December 15 to protest against the government’s wage hike decree.

It also urged public administrations to take part in a protest that it will stage on the same day.

The cabinet approved on Wednesday a wage hike other than the decree proposed by Labor Minister Charbel Nahhas, where minimum wage increased by LL100,000 to LL600,000, salaries under LL1 million by 30% up to a LL200,000 increase, and salaries above LL1 million by a 20% increase up to LL275,000.
