"Hizbullah congratulates the great people of Egypt on this historic and honorable victory which is a direct result of their pioneering revolution," read a statement released by the Iran-backed militant group.
"It is the unity the people showed in this revolution, women and men, children and adults, which marked the triumph of blood over the sword."
Egypt's Vice President Omar Suleiman announced on state television that Mubarak would step down after an extraordinary national outpouring of rage brought more than a million furious demonstrators onto the streets.(AFP)
