China on Tuesday accused President Donald Trump of "pouring oil" on the mounting conflict between Iran and Israel, after the U.S. leader warned Tehran residents to "immediately evacuate".

"Fanning the flames, pouring oil, making threats and mounting pressure will not help to promote the de-escalation of the situation, but will only intensify and widen the conflict," foreign ministry spokesman Guo Jiakun said when asked about Trump's remarks at a regular news conference.

China's President Xi Jinping on Tuesday urged a de-escalation of the Israel-Iran conflict "as soon as possible", according to Chinese state media.

"All parties should work to de-escalate the conflict as soon as possible and prevent further escalation of tensions", he said during a meeting with the Uzbek president in Kazakhstan, Xinhua reported.

Xi said he was "deeply worried" by Israel's military action against Iran.

"Israel launching military action against Iran has caused a sudden escalation in tension in the Middle East, China is deeply worried about this," he said during a meeting with the Uzbek president in Kazakhstan, Xinhua reported.

"We oppose any act that infringes upon the sovereignty, security and territorial integrity of other countries."
