Hizbullah Denies Report Linking Party to ISF Arms Raid

W300

Hizbullah on Monday denied media reports claiming that party officials had tried in vain to mediate to prevent security forces from seizing arms from the home of a party member in Beirut’s southern suburbs.

“Nizar al-Husseini is neither an official nor a member in the party,” Hizbullah’s media relations unit said in a statement.

“Remarks that a Hizbullah group had clashed with the Internal Security Forces and prevented them from performing their duty are false and baseless, as neither a clash nor a prevention had taken place,” the statement added.

A security source told An Nahar daily published Monday that weapons and four stolen vehicles were seized from “Hizbullah member Nizar al-Husseini” on Sunday after a BMW X5 stolen from the Beirut thoroughfare of Hamra was discovered outside his house in the southern suburb of Bir al-Abed.

The source said security forces found the vehicle through the GPRS system, adding that when they reached Bir al-Abed three Hizbullah gunmen arrived there and argued with the policemen for lack of coordination with the party on the raid.

According to the report, the dispute turned ugly when a gunman shot an officer in the foot.

Security forces insisted on carrying out their task and seized the car of the three gunmen, the X5 and four other stolen vehicles, the report said.

Although al-Husseini escaped, the patrol arrested his son and seized from his house a large number of weapons and ammunition in addition to a device that decodes new cars, said the report.

“Hizbullah officials tried to mediate by telling us that the seized arms belong to the party but we insisted on confiscating them and that’s what happened,” the source told the newspaper.

Later on Monday, the ISF issued a statement confirming that the raid and the clash had taken place. However, the statement did not mention anything about the political affiliation of the home’s owner or the gunmen who it said arrived on the scene in a black Kia Sportage.

Security forces seized “a quantity of weapons, explosives, military uniforms -- similar to those of the army, ISF and other fatigues – and advanced electronic devices,” the statement said.

They also seized “four stolen BMWs from the parking of the building,” it added.

“The probe is ongoing under the supervision of the relevant judicial authorities and the search continues to arrest the rest of the gang’s members,” it noted.

Of course Hizballah will deny that they are party members. But than again, secretly they will be freed again, and no one will know how it happened. The worse is, no one will ask, and we'll forget about them.

Thumb primesuspect 12 years

I read in Lorient-Lejour that the ISF didn't take the weapons. However, they might be unaware of the latest developments. The guy that shot the cop should be in Roumieh and judged very severely because he attacked the state.

This is very typical for a militia. Lawless self-important criminals. Having a leader wearing a turban changes nothing. All are criminals

Did they arrest the Gunman who shot the officer in the foot??? The suspense is killing me..

Thumb formidilosus 12 years

Of course they did... and soon they will help the Lebanese authorities all their other members who are wanted for murders (for example Hariri case), drugs trafficking, cars thefts, smuggling operations, illegal telecoms, illegal possession of weapons...
I would love to see Hizbustan cooperate with the Lebanese authorities.

naharnet can you really go lower than that!??Come on can any sane person believe that 3 ISF members went to the heart of dahyeh and arrested a Hizbullah member without Hizbullah consent? So either dahyeh is not a hizbullah geto despite what the 14 Martians are saying or this story did not happen. so who is lying??

Yes I would compare Europe/US to Iran or Saudi Arabia, but your analogy is not a serious one FT...
We are not treated as a western province... we are treated as a Syrian one...BIG difference my dear...

Grandissez un peu...

We all know that, generally, car thieves are located in the Bekaa and that NOTHING happens without the Hezbollah's approval. That's one point. On this one, I'm willing to believe the legal authority's version because one of them was shot in the foot. The officer who conducted this operation should be given a medal as there are many more cases like this one. My sister has an apartment which is rented under the all law, she took it to justice, hired a lawyer, took it to court, paid $20000 for the the guy as compensation so he leaves (he stopped paying rent for the past 12 years!). So everything is in order, guess what... he's belongs to the hizb and doesn't want to leave. The police is too scared to pull him from his 'cojones'.

Thumb benzona 12 years

Edit: ... My sister has an apartment which is rented under the OLD law... not 'all'.

"Hizbullah officials have tried in vain to mediate to prevent Lebanese security forces from seizing arms from the home of a party member in Beirut’s southern suburbs,"

So more or less, this is telling everyone what we already know--Hizb isn't the "resistance" as it claims but more like the mafia which is how it acts. Why else are party officials trying to cover for a thief?

Missing georgeusa 12 years

You're wrong FT, I will not apply the hezbollahi method to get rid of a Hezbollah thug. That's the difference between them and us. Anybody in Lebanon can buy weapons and use them to pressure the other, that's the coward way. We want justice to be served and Ben Zona's court sentence to be followed by legal actions. You however seem to encourage illegal activities.

Hold on one second.....don't these scums (HA) state that their sole purpose is to be the 'resistance' to defend against the Zionist Israelis? >>>>>>> Hizbullah officials have tried in vain to mediate to prevent Lebanese security forces from seizing arms <<<<

Does one need to say more? They are liars/scumbags/low-life tribesmen who's goal is to take over the country & send Lebanon back to prehistoric days. God help the people of Lebanon. Our only hope is to remove Assad from the picture and that should cut the snake's head and destroy HA as well.

Listen idiot. USA went to afghanistan and fought the Taliban because they are terrorists, but now they want to sit with them and negotiate, so they can be a part of the government. My point is HA are lebanese, doesn't matter what you think of them. So deal with it.

Missing realist 12 years

listen idiot, Hisbzustan will only bring death and destruction upon lebanon because of their arrogance which is paralleled to the idiot in damascuans. Syria is changing and the monopoly of hizbustan over weapons will be history in 2013-14 and everyone will obtain weapons especially the muslims. can you imagine the consequences of having two states one in da7iye and one in tripoli? cause this is where things are heading. If your hizbustan do not save the lebanese state by handing heavy weapons and murder suspects another civil war is looming. Go read sub7i tfayli's recent comments.

Missing hasanzibowawa1 12 years

amazing how they want the weapons back because they are resistance weapons, but they forget that the weapons are owned and possessed by a criminal.. these hizbullah members are the true filth of Lebanese society!. they banned alcohol in their areas not because it is haram but because all their children were skipping school and getting drunk.

if anyone of you guys saw the report on the news, you would have noticed that these weapons are israeli weapons :)
furthermore they were under the protection of hizbushaitan. :)
moreover, these guys were stealing cars (nt fr resale) but rather to fill them with explosives :)
on top of that, the ones they hate are once more the ones who caught them, i.e. ISF.
and if anybody still dares to say hizbushaitan does not have an israeli agenda .......

Days are changing idiot. Hamas already left you and in sectarian wars numbers always win, the future Syria is not your old ally and your fake leverage is expiring. Go read the advice of sub7i tfayle. Read lebanese history and see if weapons saved the maronites, minorities can succeed for some time but not all the time, every dog has its day and your days are coming to an end and you know it. Weapons should only belong to the state. Take some wisdom from the Iraqi position who did not invite the syrian regime to the arab sumit in baghdad. In other words learn your size and act accordingly, you are mere 10 percent in the greater picture and eventually everyone gets weapons.

Come on guys, let's hear the real story, the ISF got a tip from the GPRS and owners, they spotted the subject and his location, while the area is being monitored by the three ISF, the later did contact HA for coordination to apprehend Mr Al-Husseini, when the HA members showed up to the seen to tip off their brother and make him run away, they've gotten into a fight with the three ISF members already on sight keeping on eye on Al-Husseini movements and received a shot in the foot because the ISF this time played the game smarter and was already on site before the permission/call was made, at which point more support came to the seen to clean the mess and apprehend cars/arms/humans and etc... God bless the Lebanese Army.
