Geagea urges Hezbollah to cede arms instead of criticizing state

Lebanese Forces leader Samir Geagea on Sunday called on Hezbollah to hand over its arms to the Lebanese state instead of criticizing it over Israel's attacks and the stalled reconstruction efforts.

"The state won't manage to benefit from its Arab and Western friendships before becoming an actual state that is capable of monopolizing decisions," Geagea said in a statement.

"No one is willing to help a state that does not monopolize the decisions of war and peace or arms and that is not in charge of security and foreign policy," Geagea added.

"Instead of shedding crocodile tears, some must immediately hand over their weapons to the state to enable it to perform its duty in halting these attacks and removing Israel permanently from south Lebanon," Geagea went on to say.

Joseph Aoun is again playing Russian Roulette with Lebanon future after failing miserably the first time. He needs to remember that unlike Gaza bombardment that brought unanimous international condemnation, no one cared when Israel bombarded Hizbollah. Not even Iran helped with reconstruction. The danger now is that without disarming HizbIran, greater destruction is ahead and the whole south is in danger of being occupied and annexed to solve Israel water supply, ski resorts and top mountain surveillance, while leaving Hizbollah (Iran mercenaries) occupying the rest of Lebanon and its institutions. As we said for years, Netanyahu & Hizbollah are 2 sides of the same coin. They need each other to survive and stay in power. President so far has shown weakness and indecisiveness that demoralized the army, allowed Iran mercenaries to regroup and rearm, and lost international respect putting Lebanon outside the peace process.
