Saudi delegation arrives in Lebanon to discuss lifting ban on exports
A Saudi technical committee led by Saudi envoy Prince Yazid bin Farhan arrived Monday in Lebanon to discuss lifting the ban on Lebanese imports, media reports said.
The committee will meet with Prime Minister Nawaf Salam.
A senior Saudi official had announced last week that his country plans to imminently bolster commercial ties with Lebanon after Lebanese authorities demonstrated efficacy curbing drug smuggling to the kingdom over the past months.
Salam and President Joseph Aoun welcomed the move.
In 2021, Saudi Arabia announced the suspension of imports from Lebanon, saying shipments were being used for drug smuggling and accusing Beirut of inaction.
