Jumblat says ceasefire an 'illusion', calls for 'civilized shelters'
Druze leader Walid Jumblat on Monday described the ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel as an "illusion."
"Since the ceasefire is an illusion and a mirage, and since the policy of destruction and displacement continues and will increase, it is time for the Ministry of Social Affairs to create new, civilized shelters (for the displaced) instead of empty daily statements, and the same applies to the Ministry of Education in preparation for the next academic season," Jumblat posted on X.
The ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel has been extended twice since it was initially announced, but clashes between Israel and Hezbollah have continued unbated across south Lebanon and West Bekaa and near the border in north Israel. Israel has also carried out a strike on Beirut's southern suburbs and a few strikes on the Baalbek district.
