KSA slams Israel expansion in Lebanon, urges respect for govt. decisions
The Saudi Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Monday expressed the Kingdom's condemnation of Israel's escalating attacks in Lebanon and its "categorical rejection of the Israeli incursion Lebanon's territory and the violation of its sovereignty."
The Kingdom calls upon the international community to "assume its responsibility in halting this aggression and putting an end to Israeli military movements aimed at expanding into Lebanese territory," the Ministry said.
It stressed "the importance of protecting the sovereignty of Lebanese territory and the brotherly Lebanese people in accordance with relevant international agreements," emphasizing in this regard "the importance of adhering to the Taif Agreement, which ensures the extension of Lebanese state sovereignty over all its territory."
Riyadh also called for "complying with the Lebanese government's decisions to restrict weapons to the state and its legitimate institutions, thus guaranteeing the return of security and stability to Lebanon and its brotherly people."
