Work underway to clear up sticking points before Washington talks, report says

The U.S. supports the Lebanese demands in direct talks with Israel in Washington, a senior political source said.

The source told Nidaa al-Watan newspaper, in remarks published Thursday, that the U.S. pressured Israel to retract a previously proposed draft declaration of intent, in favor of the Lebanese demands -- a comprehensive ceasefire before moving to the next pilot zone phase.

According to the source, Lebanon wants to ensure the new ceasefire differs from the November 2024 agreement, which failed to stop Israeli attacks despite Hezbollah's compliance.

"Work is underway to finalize an implementation framework to clear up remaining ambiguities and sticking points, paving the way for a comprehensive ceasefire before negotiations resume on June 22," the daily said.

In 2019 the Lebanese said:”Killun yaani killun.” Now the Lebanese negotiators should say:”Ceasefire yaani CEASEFIRE” . No targeted assassinations or selective bombardment or attacking anybody who has an INTENTION of attacking or planning to attack or writing on FB that he is not against attacks etc.”Yalla ya negotiators prove you have byddat (except Mouwaad ofcourse .”The whole world (even Israel) is now behind you.
