Vatican expresses 'serious concerns' over Israel-Lebanon deal implementation

President Joseph Aoun met Thursday with Pope Leo XIV at the Vatican and thanked him for his efforts to support Lebanon in resisting Israeli aggression and securing the liberation of its territory.

Aoun urged the Pope to compel Israel to commit to the U.S.-brokered Framework Agreement, halt its daily strikes, and withdraw from the territories its forces are occupying in south Lebanon.

The Vatican expressed "serious concerns" about problems implementing the deal between Israel and Lebanon.

"The Holy See, whilst welcoming the signing of the document, has expressed serious concerns about the difficulties being encountered in implementing it, and has pledged its support for efforts to that end," the Vatican said in a statement.

When one compares the noble work of President Aoun and the supportive confidence world leaders, including Pope Leo XIV and Mohammed bin Salman and President Macron and others, have in him and the efforts of the government of Lebanon, it is easy to see the weakness of Mohammad Raad, Ali Ammar (https://naharnet.com/stories/en/321974-aoun-meets-pope-leo-urges-vatican-to-help-enforce-framework-agreement), and rest of the band of loyalists to "Resistance" as resulting not from the mandate of the Lebanese citizens, but from the insecurities of self-loathing their own insecurities and weaknesses of personality.

Ask the Pope (not the Vatican) what he thinks of Article 24 of the Lebanese Constitution reserving half of parliamentary seats to "Christians".
