Trump tells Aoun he admires his 'decisive leadership'
U.S. President Donald Trump has said that it was an “honor” to him to welcome President Joseph Aoun to the White House for a “truly historic visit,” the Lebanese presidency said on Monday, citing a letter sent by Trump.
Aoun had visit the White House on July 21.
“At a time when the Middle East is witnessing conflict, I admire your decisive leadership on behalf of Lebanon and its people," Trump told Aoun in the letter, according to an Arabic-language text published by the Lebanese Presidency.
Trump also thanked Aoun for awarding him the National Order of the Cedar (Grand Cordon), stating: "This gesture is an extraordinary honor that embodies the proud Lebanese spirit; I will cherish it as a symbol of our shared commitment to peace, security, and prosperity around the world."
Trump obviously didn't write the letter. He doesn't use five-syllable words, six if you count the "a" in the middle of "extraordinary".
