Lebanese ambassador hails Rubio as breakthrough sought in Tampa talks
Lebanese Ambassdor to the U.S. Nada Hamadeh Moawad has said that she is "grateful" to U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio for "his leadership, friendship, and support for Lebanon."
"Mr. Secretary, your commitment to Lebanon, its sovereignty, and its people is deeply appreciated," the ambassador added, in a post on X.
A new Lebanese-Israeli round of talks is scheduled to take place in the second half of October in Tampa, Florida. The talks will take place between military delegations in the presence of Moawad and former ambassador Simon Karam.
"The parties concerned are seeking to remove obstacles ahead of the new round of negotiations, hoping to achieve a breakthrough that leads to positive results," the Nidaa al-Watan newspaper reported on Sunday.
