Qatari PM meets Aoun, says Israel must let Lebanese Army deploy in South
Qatari Prime Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani held talks Friday at the Baabda Palace with President Joseph Aoun.
Speaking after the meeting, Sheikh Mohammed said the discussions covered "bilateral relations between the two countries and ways to implement joint projects that contribute to the security, stability and prosperity of the region."
He pointed out that "the energy sector is at the heart of interests in the sisterly Lebanese republic, and the State of Qatar seeks to provide integrated solutions in this field.”
“During subsequent meetings with the Prime Minister, we will be keen to activate the projects that have been agreed upon," the premier added.
Moreover, he said the talks tackled regional and international developments, particularly the situation in southern Lebanon and “the actions of the Israeli occupation toward Lebanon.”
“The State of Qatar supports the steps taken by the Lebanese state, as well as the withdrawal of the Israeli occupation army from the occupied territories and handing them over to the Lebanese Army. Qatar will remain a supporter of Lebanon," Sheikh Mohammed went on to say.
Media reports said the Qatari prime minister is carrying a comprehensive plan to resolve Lebanon’s chronic electricity crisis.

The Sheikh reportedly threatened to frown in Israel's direction.
