Man Lands in Jail after Allegedly Escaping his Abductors
A wanted Lebanese man was arrested on several charges on Wednesday after he alleged that he escaped his abductors by jumping out of a speeding car, the National News Agency reported.
NNA said the man’s wife identified as Zeinab Mohammed Assaf, 22, told Burj al-Barajneh police in Beirut’s southern suburbs that brothers Fadi, Ali and Hassan al-Qaafarani kidnapped her 37-year-old husband Izzat Ali al-Hajj.
But a few hours later, al-Hajj headed to the police station claiming that he jumped out of the car that the brothers were using to kidnap him, NNA said.
To the security forces’ surprise, the victim turned out to be wanted on several charges.
Al-Hajj was jailed and police issued notices on the three brothers to arrest them on charges of forceful detention and attempted kidnapping.
In another incident, police from the drug control bureau arrested drug dealer Mohammed Allaw following an armed clash with the security forces patrol in the Mreijeh neighborhood of Beirut’s southern suburbs.
His wife Hanan al-Muqdad, who was in his company, was also arrested for questioning, NNA said.

independence and rastafarian - unfortunately you both display the attitude that will send our country down the ##**hole one day. Learn to love each other and coexist, we may not have chosen to be from the same country but we are and being judgemental on a whole segment of population will never do good. There are people from both the east and west - both muslims and christians - both sunnis and shias - that are ashraf el nass and not ashraf el nass.. so pls stop generalizing.. Thank you
