Lebanese-Canadian Named BMW’s New Designer

W300

The Lebanon-born Canadian designer Karim Habib has been named by BMW to lead the design of its brand cars starting June 1.

Habib, 42, has joined the BMW team in 1998, followed by a brief stint with Mercedes-Benz but returned to BMW and has been in charge of Exterior Design for the car-maker since March 2011.

Habib is credited as the designer of the current 7 Series and the elegant CS Concept.

The Lebanese had various posts in interior and exterior design before becoming Team Leader Advanced Design for the BMW Group and later heading the BMW Exterior Design department. Now he is in charge of the whole BMW design, interior and exterior.

Habib has a busy few years ahead of him as BMW matches Mercedes and Audi and with the impending debut of the i Series electric cars.

Bravo. Good example for us all to follow. Leave politics for the elections only and the other days of the year focus on your career.

Lebanese people shine when they are away from their country. What a shame.

exactly my thoughts!

Yeah not really. Many of the worlds worst criminals are lebanese. Lebanese in Africa, Europe, US, Australia and else where are over represented in many crime fields including rape, terrorism, murder, fraud, money laundring, abuse and drug dealing.

Proud of you Karim,God bless you.

Default-user-icon ziad (Guest) 13 years

let's all focus on being the best we can be and leave the dirty politics to the dirty politicians. if we can manage to do that then eventually a new generation of worthy politicians will usher a new era for our poor country

Thumb canaanite 13 years

Would you still be proud of him if he was an FPM or Hezbollah supporter?

Ignoring political affiliation, it warms my heart to see Lebanese succeed where-ever they are... Well done Mr Habib...

Born in Lebanon early childhood made all his studies in Canada. Let see: learned discipline, honesty, know how, modesty and hard work. You are what you surrounding and education makes you. Forget about Lebanese born. Welcome to Canadian educate.
You really are losers

This is embarassing. BMW has designers and workers from all over the world but only lebanese make it news when a lebanese is hired by them. I can not imagine britain writing: "Canadian of british origin is new designer of BMW". What a silly people we are.

Default-user-icon british95 (Guest) 13 years

actually, yes, British newspapers may report it if a British citizen landed a high profile job in a large company, and definitely magazines will. He's the new lead designer for BMW: it is a big deal.

Default-user-icon Neal (Guest) 13 years

this is not silly at all we have so little to brag about of course we are going to look for that bright spot

Default-user-icon Paul (Guest) 13 years

You are absolutely right, lebanese88, lets just focus on the bad news about Lebanese..

Default-user-icon marie99 (Guest) 13 years

Great really to hear good news. That makes a pretty change. So, instead of burning tyres, this bright guy will shape them !! what a change !!

Default-user-icon Donna (Guest) 13 years

People are so damn negative and jealous! This is definitely something to be proud about! Congrats to a hard working LEBANESE man! God bless him!! That's awesome!

Just yesterday here in Canada I thought I heard gunfire, or some fireworks (but I didn't see any). I heard police sirens and stuff, this afternoon I asked someone who lives in that area if they knew what happened and they told me that the Lebanese family across from them was celebrating because a Lebanese was chosen to be the "BMW Designer!"

Thumb Chupachups 13 years

i don't know if you are being serious..or just a little silly... :/

Default-user-icon Fadi (Guest) 13 years

If lebanese people invest their energy in creativity or (whatever)at work, They can give much better results than when they follow politics and their divided leaders...

Default-user-icon Evolve (Guest) 13 years

Why do the Lebanese always look for other accomplished Lebanese to follow in their examples? The world is filled with many "successful" people in different fields who came from difficult backgrounds and made it. All you have to do is research famous people online and learn their stories. The sad thing is that this articles report on Karim's accomplishments but don't say how he achieved this which is the probably the more interesting part of the news especially if the article's goal is to inspire rather than celebrate.

Default-user-icon Ridiculousness (Guest) 13 years

Does Mr Habib root for team A or team B? The lab tests were inconclusive as to his political and religious affiliation? Too bad. He won't be getting my Kongratooolashonz!

Default-user-icon puma1980 (Guest) 13 years

Good, we should expect a built-in arguileh stand inside the X5 from now on?

Missing lebanese88 13 years

When a lebanese farts, its news. Cant you see how silly this is??? Makes us proud? Everything seems to make lebanese proud, especially things that have no meaning. Some even take pride in keanu reeves because he was born in beirut!!!!!!! Perhaps if lebanese spent a little more energy on feeling ashamed of how most lebanese are arrogant, racist, shallow, backward and a million other bad things, instead of feeling proud of the achievements of a few individuals, then maybe, just maybe, we would have been in a better place.

Missing arbeitmachtfrei 13 years

I wonder what naharnet would right when lebanese would have their own carmakers!! lmao!
