Australia will play Lebanon in a football friendly in Beirut on September 6 in a final build-up to its World Cup qualifier against Jordan five days later.

Coach Holger Osieck said he will use the match — the first ever between Australia and Lebanon — to fine-tune his squad for the match against Jordan in Amman on Sept. 11.

Osieck said the match "will be an ideal opportunity for us to face quality opposition who play a similar style of football to our next opponents."

Australia is currently third and level with Iraq in Group B in the final stage of Asian World Cup qualifying with two points from two games. Japan leads the group with seven points from three matches.
