Maronite Bishops: We Hope Pope’s Visit Will Bolster Coexistence, Dialogue among Lebanese
The Maronite Bishops Council highlighted on Wednesday Pope Benedict XVI’s upcoming visit to Lebanon, praising all sects for their welcoming of the visit.
It said in a statement after their monthly meeting: “We hope the visit will bolster coexistence and dialogue among the Lebanese people.”
“We are eagerly awaiting the visit to and call on all sides to take part in it,” it added.
The Pope is scheduled to travel to Lebanon on September 14 on a three-day visit where he will meet with a number of senior officials.
He is set to hold mass in downtown Beirut on Sunday, September 16, where he will deliver the apostolic exhortation, which represents the conclusion of a Middle Eastern synod in 2010 that emphasized the defense of Christian minorities in the region.

Lebanon is just out of controle, let's hope nobody will try being fooling with the Pope Benedictus XVI
The visit of the pope is welcome and all Lebanese alike will be honored to welcome the holder of the chair of St. Peter. There is no sectarian problem in Lebanon. Our problem is one of proliferation of weapons. The proof is that sunnites from different families shoot each other in bab el tabbaneh, the proof is the existentialist hate between aoun and geagea, and the hypocrisy in the relation between berri and nasrallah.
The issue is simple. Remove all weapons (keep HA's to last) and dont worry about coexistance.
