Swim Chief Executive Resigns after Poor Olympics

Swimming Australia says it has accepted the resignation of chief executive Kevin Neil, a move which follows the national team's poor performance at the London Olympics.

Neil was due to appear next week at a government inquiry into the sport after Australia failed to win an individual gold medal in the pool for the first time since 1976.

There were also accusations by some swimmers that junior members of the team were bullied.

Board member Jeremy Turner will serve as interim chief executive until a new person is hired.

Neil, a former Canberra Raiders National Rugby League club boss, was appointed to Swimming Australia's board of directors in February 2008 and took over later in the year from Glenn Tasker, who resigned after six years.
