Mustaqbal Insists on Cabinet's Resignation in Meeting with Jumblat

W300

Al-Mustaqbal movement described on Friday Progressive Socialist Party leader MP Walid Jumblat's initiative to resolve the country's political crisis as “positive,” reiterating demands that the cabinet steps down.

“The resignation of the cabinet is the solution to defuse the tension in the country,” head of al-Mustaqbal parliamentary bloc Fouad Saniora said in a statement.

Al-Mustaqbal delegation attended on Thursday night a dinner banquet at the residence of Jumblat in al-Mukhtara.

According to the statement, the delegation stressed during the meeting the importance of carrying out the upcoming 2013 parliamentary elections without any delay.

It pointed out that the March 14 coalition rejects attending an “unproductive” dialogue amid the lingering security threats.

The delegation included Saniora, MP Ahmed Fatfat and former Prime Minister Saad Hariri's advisers Nader al-Hariri and Mohammed Shatah.

The initiative suggests a return to dialogue and an end to involvement in the Syrian crisis.

A PSP delegation has been holding talks with major political figures to propose to them Jumblat's initiative to resolve the country's political crisis.

Its latest talks involved head of the Jamaa Islamiyya political bureau Azzam al-Ayyoubi, Lebanese Force leader Samir Geagea, Phalange Party leader Amin Gemayel and it has so far met with President Michel Suleiman, Speaker Nabih Berri, Prime Minister Najib Miqati, Hizbullah deputy leader Sheikh Naim Qassem and Free Patriotic Movement chief MP Michel Aoun.

The assassination of Internal Security Forces Intelligence Branch chief Brig. Gen. Wissam al-Hasan on October 19 deepened the gap between the March 14 opposition and the March 8 alliance.

The opposition boycotted political activity with its foes after it blamed Miqati's government for covering up the crime, calling on it to step down, and said it would not sit at the same dialogue table with Hizbullah.

Hariri can not afford to back down. His benefactors Qatar and Saudi Arabia will brook no retreat. Should he cooperate he will find Saudi and jihadi plots on his life added to the others while naked and alone.

The Future Movement is now in crisis. Damned if they do cooperate and damned if they don't. Their political partners in M14 are increasingly distancing themselves from odious revelations and embarrassing explanations.

Hariri's party will find itself increasingly isolated and irrelevant as their intransigence is revealed to be a plot of the destabilization of Lebanon itself all for the advancement of Hariri's political power and the Islamification of Syria and Lebanon.

hariri future movement is practically FINISHED,he is losing in saida to assir and salafists..he is losing in tripoli especially after he is in paris and now after shaar was kept away..in beirut jamaa islamya is eating him alive...where saado is still strong? in kesouwan? perhaps in wadi kannoubine?what we call "moderate sunnis" are history LIVE WITH THAT.

"what we call "moderate sunnis" are history LIVE WITH THAT."

Indeed that is the plan ... we see it being played out in Egypt, Gaza, Syria and Jordan ... The Muslim Brotherhood backed by Saudi-Qatari money.

Saad has proven to be an failed manager as his efforts have been stymied in Lebanon through personal and employee incompetence. Saad still controls the loyalty of the Future Movement, but, as you say, the Future movement is failing and failing fast.

Unfortunately for the salafist plans they too have been uncovered as Morsi has overplayed his hand as have the Saudi-Qatari-Brotherhood roles in Syria and Jordan. There can only be more bloodshed. Your reward for any victory will be failed states. ... continued

...from above

In Lebanon however moderate Muslims from Future will find other homes and the majority of March 14 are either moderate Muslims or Christian sects leaving the majority of Lebanon free from salafist demagoguery.

With the onset of climate change and peak oil production, as the world economy declines, these victories of yours will taste like ashes in your mouth ...

Very poor analysis, the only isolated party after the fall of bashar is the hizbustan militia, alot of M8 will go kiss rebel boots. The suni she3i war is coming, and idiots like you ra7 yetra7amu on moderates like haririand wesam 7assan. Thanks to your arrogant and terrorist policies, lebanon will b destroyed.

There will be no room for moderation in lebanon, alot of revenge is coming. There is a fertile ground for extremism in the suni community after the assasination of leaders and no hope in sight. The missles of hizbustan willbe fired on lebanese, watch out for war in bekaa and north after bashar. Im just being realistic

Sheikh Saad is loved and respected not only by the Sunnis but most moderate patriotic Lebanese, Arabs and the international community. Mustaqbal and M14 will be the dominant political force in Lebanon when the dog Assad is gone. M8 Farsi attacks on him are out of desperation and fear…Moderation in Lebanon will prevail and M14 will shine…may god protect Lebanon from the M8 Farsi Assad alliance…

i am not going to say you live in a fantasy world... but the important thing to me as a Lebanese is that the flow of weapons will be disrupted. I am sure not 100% of weapons will stop entering the country (what do you think the biggest part of the problem was in 2008?) alot of weapons will still get to HA through the airport which they currently control. I wouldnt mind seeing M8 getting more powerful as a purely political party that has no weapons... but if they are counting on growing stronger militarily wise after Assad.. you are dead wrong.

Thumb mckinl over 12 years

@ arzak-ya-libnan

With Assad out of the way there will be no more impediments between members of the current government. The largest rift now is Syria.

And with Syria gone there will be much more room for opposition parties to join the current government.

Syria is a stumbling block for the current government not an advantage ... Iran will supply the weapons until HA is absorbed.

HA is well stocked and Israel has no appetite for another Lebanese war any time soon ...

The fall of Syria will help the current government ...

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan over 12 years

i am not sure what you mean by no more impediments between current government.
the current government is loaded with people and parties who are, let's just say, sympathetic Syria (i.e. Assad), with the only exception being Junblatt.
We can see clearly that Syria is no impediment to the current government and that internal bickering (though present in most coalition) is rife within the M8 .. i mean who hates each other more than Berri-Aoun..
if it is as you say, wouldnt the current government be supporting the rebels? to remove an obstacle and complete their control over Lebanon?
As long as HA weapons are present, nothing will change and there will still be a fracture within the country too deep to overcome.
THAT is the one impediment to the current government, for if HA integrated their weapons to the army, i am sure a bunch of people from the other side would find common ground with them.

Thumb arzak-ya-libnan over 12 years

HA's weapons will be rendered obsolete with time, as the financial crisis in Iran cannot allow them to fund HA to the degree required to keep the weapons in operational condition.. the same reason the U.S.S.R. disintegrated and lost the cold war. it's all about the Benjamin's at the end of the day.. and Iran doesnt quite have enough.
and let us always remember that you never know when that appetite of Israel gets bigger and bigger untill theres a large rumbling in the stomach and of tanks.. Syria was a major access point for HA with probably up to 80% of the funding and arsenal arriving through there.
I do understand your point but the current government will not be joined by anyone (on the contrary more and more might turn their back on HA as they become weaker, hence more dangerous) unless they hand the weapons over.. then.. anything can happen.. and i would be all for it.

Wow how smart lol, and after assad is gone genius arms and jihadis will flow to ur suni enemies in lebanon, just imagine the msna3 crossing falling to the fsa, get it thru ur head, the next rising force is the suni community, you need to make peace with them, bashar's migs did not help him and neither will ur missles cause everyone ill be armed, the demographics in the region r simply not in she3a favor and syria is proving that demographics always decide civil wars, unless u really believe there will a lebanese army to control the borders lol

Thumb LEBhasNOhope over 12 years

realist- ALl the more reason to put the arms in the hands of the state. No militias peroid. No special privilages. Everyone respects and obeys the law. Not sure why that is so difficult for people to agree on. Think of your children and your children's children. what kind of a life are we setting them up for?

Missing realist over 12 years

@ arzak, i wish things were as simple as you think, there r 50 thousand syrian killed and hizbustan took part in killing them, there will b no government and no lebanon come 2014, im just being realistic, there will be a suni she3i war and the arms and men are gona flow from syria to the sunis this time around. Bye bye lebanon
