Jumblat Slams Arabs for Building 'Delusive Towers' Rather than Helping Palestinians

W300

Progressive Socialist Party leader Walid Jumblat criticized on Saturday Arab leaders for building towers in the desert rather than helping the Palestinian people and the refugees.

“Arabs should dedicate a small amount of their huge resources to serve the Palestinian people rather than build in the deserts delusive towers that have no value and will turn into sand once oil is depleted,” Jumblat told As Safir daily.

The PSP chief urged the Lebanese government to consolidate the Higher Relief Council in providing assistance to Syrian refugees but lamented that only UNRWA deals with the Palestinian refugees at the camps.

“We also know that its budget is very limited and the contributions of Arab countries are worthless,” he said.

Jumblat's remarks came amid a hung influx of Syrian and Palestinian refugees to Lebanon after escaping the fighting between regime troops and rebels.

The U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees announced in its weekly report on Friday that the number of refugees receiving assistance reached over 164,000.

Thousands of Palestinians who have fled the refugee camp of Yarmuk near Damascus have further complicated relief efforts, which will be discussed during an extraordinary cabinet session after the government makes an official assessment of the value of promised aid by donors.

The Palestinian ambassador, Ashraf Dabbour, told An Nahar daily on Saturday that Palestinians who had escaped the Yarmuk fighting have started to return to their homes.

“It's only a matter of days,” he said, adding that the situation in Yarmuk began to return to normal.

The refugees streamed back into their camp on Friday after a reported deal to keep it out of Syria's conflict, following fierce clashes earlier this week.

They are sending money for destruction, not for building.

It's their money and support that has created the destruction and situation to begin with. The fact that Syria is ruled by a minority sect (Alawite) doesn't serve their Zionist agenda. Assad's father and son have always stood tall in the face of Israel. ... wait for it,,,,,,,,, and here come the Assad haters

how tall lol? they gave the jews the golan heights and it was the safest border for over 40 years. Ironicaly this is the first time in 40 years that some problems started to happen in the golan, incidentaly the year of the syrian revolution. Alawites were the prime allies of france just like the maronites were in lebanon. Minorities always serve the colonial forces: history 101.

If that were true, Syria would not celebrate an independents day. Research your history and see who was behind that..

What's wrong with Wally? There's no such thing as ARABISM... it's an artificial creation from the ruling European Colonial empires in the region. So when when Wally says Arabs this or Arabs that, I have to disagree. Do we Lebanese look like Saudis or like Iraqis? we're all different, we may share a common language and for some a common religion but that's pretty much it. Zimbabwe's official language is English and they're christian, are they Europeans? There's plenty of such examples.

accordionman. I normally like your views on here but get off this sandneg. talk. That is plain trash talk. If you don't feel you're arab that is your choice but many other Lebanese like myself am glad to say that I am Arab.

Christians are an integral and historical facts in the history of Syria, if the Saudi @ Qatari $s with their mercineries want to destroy, it is a historical disaster. The painful fact is that Christian countries are doing nothing about it. In the 21st century, $s make the decisions.

Show them by example Mr. Jumblat. Distribute some of your wealth to those poor Palestinians (and poor Lebanese for that matter). The likes of you are only Tojjar 2haki (word traders).
