Caretaker Telecommunications Minister Charbel Nahhas said that he is still expecting an action to be taken by the military judiciary concerning the official complaint he filed to the government commissioner at the military court against Internal Security Forces Chief Maj. Gen. Ashraf Rifi.

“We don’t understand the upheaval created over the issue, and why they are insisting on hiding what the second floor (of a building affiliated with the telecom ministry in Adliyeh) contains,” Nahhas told As Safir newspaper on Saturday.

“We want to take back things to their right direction, and carry out an accurate technical investigation,” the telecom minister said.

Meanwhile, sources told As Safir that Caretaker Justice Minister Ibrahim Najjar is studying the memo. He wondered why Najjar didn’t take the “initiative” yet to refer the issue to the public prosecution.

The daily reported that the justice minister’s circles signaled that the ISF chief hadn’t committed a penal crime.

In answering a question about the technical committee tasked to probe the telecom dispute at the Adliyeh building, Nahhas said that the committee will be formed by Monday.

“The committee will include qualified technical experts that have integrity and are able to come up with a report as soon as possible,” he said.

As Safir reported that a meeting was held between Speaker Nabih Berri and head of the media parliamentary committee MP Hassan Fadlallah to assess the last committee meeting.

“In the light of the report issued by the committee formed by the Telecom Minister, the parliament will decide the next step,” the daily said.
