Education Ministry Sets Official Exams Dates for Grades 9 and 12

The Ministry of Education has set the dates for Grades 9 and 12 official exams as classes resumed at public schools after a month-long strike by the Syndicate Coordination Committee.
The secondary school official exams for the Humanities (LH) section and the Sociology and Economics (SE) section will be held on July 3.
While the exams for the General Science (SG) and Life Science (SV) sections will take place on June 27.
Middle school official exam exams, Brevet (BR), are set to be held on June 22.
Voice of Lebanon radio (100.5) quoted caretaker Education Minister Hassan Diab as saying that the results of the exams will be announced starting July 25.
The announcement comes after the cabinet referred a day before its resignation last Thursday the bill concerning the new wage scale for public employees to the parliament after a sharp rift with the SCC.
The SCC held a month-long strike, vowing not to back down as public teachers suspended classes in schools.
On Wednesday, the Education Ministry announced that public schools will hold classes six days per week to compensate the consequences of the strike on students who will take the 2013 official exams.
Public schools, according to a statement, might also hold afternoon classes.
