Japanese Tourist Killed in Turkey Stabbing

A Japanese woman was killed and another badly injured in a stabbing attack in Cappadocia, a popular tourist area in central Turkey, the local governor said Tuesday.
The two women were attacked while hiking in the Zemi valley Monday, Governor Mehmet Ceylan was quoted as saying by the Dogan news agency.
Mai Kurihara, 22, was killed and her friend Hoshie Teramatsu, also 22, is being treated in a regional hospital, the governor said.
Other travelers found the pair unconscious and alerted the authorities.
The motive for the attack was not immediately clear.
Cappadocia is visited by thousands of tourists every year. It is famous for its lunar landscape, cone-shaped volcanic rock formations, rock-carved underground cities and early Christian churches.
