Berri: We are Very Patient in Facing Obstacles in Government Formation

W300

Speaker Nabih Berri stated on Wednesday that contacts are ongoing to form a new government.

He said: “We are positively dealing with this issue and we are very patient in facing the obstacles in the government formation process.”

He made his remarks during his weekly meeting with lawmaker at his Ain el-Tineh residence.

Moreover, the speaker noted that a “de facto cabinet will isolate all political powers.”

“It will negatively impact the situation in the country,” Berri stressed.

Since his appointment in April, Premier-designate Tammam Salam has faced difficulties in forming a new cabinet due to the conditions and counter-conditions placed by the rival March 8 and 14 camps.

The March 14 camp has been demanding the formation of a nonpartisan government, while the Lebanese Forces has urged that Hizbullah not be represented in the new cabinet.

The March 8 camp has meanwhile been demanding the formation of a national all-embracing government.

a little too patient. All sides need to come together to reach agreement rather than continously placing obstacles

No, Mr. Berri, it is the rest of Lebanon that is losing patience with you and Hezbollah, your threats, intimidations and vetoes, as the country tries to form a cabinet.

Hizbollah are not a political party they are a armed entity who are not in the lebanese constitution so why should this country be held to ransom for them its we the people of lebanon who decide who should run this country not Berri ,not nasrollah.

I think hizbollah's resistance should merge with the lebanese army and become a political party to contribute in government in a peaceful and legal manner not by threats and intimidations it will get them nowhere and i think it will benefit lebanon greatly

@FT, aren't we defensive today? Only you and Aoun can pretend not to be aware of who is holding the stick in the wheel. The choice presented to the Lebanese is to form a government that tHezbollah approves, that is, a faux government, or form a real government and have Hezbollah tear the country apart and start setting off car bombs on a relatively regular schedule t show it's displeasure. When the benefit of having a government outweighs the costs of the obstruction, don't you worry, Hezbollah will have its hands full. For me, I'm there, how about you FT??

It will negatively impact the situation in the country,” Berri stressed......
Mr. Berri.
If you negatively impact a situation that is already negative, mathematically speaking the result is positive.
