Prime Minister Najib Miqati said on Saturday that the cabinet will meet all the needs of the army according to the plan that its “wise” leadership established, the National News Agency reported.

“The government will protect the army along with all the security institutions from any interference,” Miqati said in the Order of the Day issued on the 66th anniversary of Army Day on August 1.

He stressed that the army is the only “resort to protect Lebanon and defend its land, its people and their dignity.”

The PM added: “The local developments proved that the army is for the entire nation and was able to overcome all the local disputes, sectarian and social differences.”

Concerning his recent visit to the south, Miqati said that it was to emphasis on the support for the army against the Israeli enemy, and to stress the cooperation with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) to implement the U.N. Security Council resolution 1701.

He urged the Lebanese army to be on alert as long as the Israeli threat remains.

Meanwhile, the PM held a meeting with a delegation from the General Labor Confederation headed by Ghassan Ghosn at the Grand Serail, Miqati said: “Involved ministers will follow-up social issues, particularly those that directly affect people’s daily lives.”

The issues include salaries, health, food safety and prevention of monopoly on prices, he said. “There will also be intensified meetings to solve the electricity and water and social security problems.”

“Social security goes in parallel with political and military security,” the premier said. “It is our duty to care for the Lebanese.”

He told the delegation that the cabinet will cooperate with parliament to approve draft laws, some of them linked to the economic and social sectors.

“Social issues should be solved through full partnership between the cabinet, state institutions and civil society,” Miqati added.

Miqati also held a meeting with Speaker Nabih Berri in Ain el-Tineh.

The conferees discussed the latest developments and a number of issues including the maritime borders and Lebanon’s natural resources.

I read this article, out of interest... However it appears to be all cheap meaningless talk. I expected somehing more meaningful, convincing, and serious from an intelligent prime minister. I personally admire Mikati as a successful businessman, but I am becoming to think less of him as a leader. Merci.

Diplomacy is a good option but it's not good to make lebanese to lebanese in Neutral

Next step, the army will be a division of Hizb.. Sending them first to get blown up along with the rest of the country while the lunatics Hizb pop out of sand bags, shoot iranian made missles that hit nothing before crawling back into the dirt . Its suberb military tactic discovered by the head of Iran's military strategy while playing whack a mole in the carnival where he worked before the islamic revolution.
